Storage Fusion Releases New Environmental Analytics Module for its Storage Resource Analysis Service

Data centre professionals can now assess data storage power consumption statistics across heterogeneous environments

London, UK – 9th September 2009 – Storage Fusion Ltd., the leading innovator in SRA services (Storage Resource Analysis), today unveiled an environmental analytics module for its SRA platform. The new environmental module is part of Storage Fusion’s successful SRA service offering which includes a detailed power consumption assessment for heterogeneous magnetic disk storage systems within a single data centre or across multiple sites.

Storage infrastructure is fundamental to business operations, and is one of the largest IT investments that any company can make. However, all too often this strategic resource is poorly understood and inefficiently managed. Using a powerful and non-disruptive SaaS (Software as a Service) architecture, Storage Fusion’s SRA service provides very rapid storage analytics covering a comprehensive range of system usage and operational metrics. Storage Fusion’s SRA service has helped organisations to recapture petabytes of poorly deployed resource and make informed decisions that reduce operating costs and improve system performance through storage optimization.

"As a channel partner, we are very pleased to see how quickly Storage Fusion has responded to the market demand for intelligent storage analytics on power consumption,” commented Simon Fisk, UK sales director at ACS. “The SRA service is bringing measurable benefits to our customers and the new environmental module provides even greater value. Storage resources within many data centres have become so complex that it can lead to strategic paralysis. Companies know they can benefit from resource optimization, but don’t always know where to begin. Storage Fusion’s SRA service is very powerful because it provides end users with a clear view of their infrastructure what allows them to develop a technical strategy that actually improves their bottom line."

"Data centres are faced with the stark reality of power restrictions and increasing energy costs, and are searching for ways to improve energy efficiency,” explained Graham Wood, managing director at Storage Fusion. “Since the power and cooling costs of storage systems can represent 30-40% of the total electricity bill for the data centre, this is a critical consideration. In the past CIOs had few meaningful tools to help them assess where savings could be gained. Our new environmental analysis module gives CIOs the edge they need to achieve power consumption efficiency gains through intelligent storage resource management."
